Dave Adams Honors

Every spring, IHSPA offers the following honors to celebrate the First Amendment and one of its fiercest advocates, David L. Adams.

DAVID L. ADAMS HALL OF FAME
($250 to inductee)
DEADLINE: May 1

Named after former IU Student Media Director and fierce student rights advocate David Adams, this honor recognizes those that promote and protect First Amendment freedoms within the school and community. Nominations may include a variety of evidence demonstrating a commitment to the five freedoms, particularly student expression. The only required material is a letter from the student media adviser detailing how their school actively supports and honors the First Amendment. Inductees will receive $250 for its student media department, plaques to place in the journalism classroom and main office.

FIRST AMENDMENT DESIGN CONTEST
(winner: $150 • second: $100 • third: $50)

Celebrate the power of free expression by entering our First Amendment Design Contest! We’re inviting artists, designers, and creative minds of all ages to showcase what freedom of speech, press, religion, assembly, and petition mean to you. Whether it’s through bold graphics, thought-provoking illustrations, or innovative typography, this is your chance to visually interpret one of the most fundamental rights in the U.S. Constitution. Students should submit original work of a logo, poster, or T-shirt design that promotes the Five Freedoms. Entry must be a high resolution PDF or image. CLICK HERE TO ENTER.
