Symposium

The First Amendment Symposium is held annually at the Indiana Statehouse in the spring. This event is meant to educate those in attendance about First Amendment Rights as well as promote them and emphasize their importance not only for society, but for journalists specifically. The rights of religion, press, assembly, speech, and petition are fundamental rights.

Each year at this event, there is a keynote speaker. Each member of the IHSPA student board shares a few words as well. The Indiana Student Journalist of the Year is announced, along with recognition of the First Amendment contest winners.
