Pulliam School of Journalism Director John Krull will host a discussion and Q&A with Davis during the opening session of the IHSPA convention.

The Indiana High School Press Association is honored to welcome ABC News anchor and reporter Linsey Davis as the keynote of the 2022 state high school journalism convention that will be held on the Franklin College campus Friday, Jan. 28.

Davis, who is also a correspondent for “Good Morning America,” “20/20” and “Nightline” as well as a bestselling children’s book author, will join Pulliam School of Journalism Director John Krull on the event’s main stage for a conversation about her professional path, the future of news media and what Hoosier scholastic journalists can do to better prepare for a life within the field. Convention attendees will then have the opportunity to ask Davis questions about a career that has ranged from co-anchoring presidential debates to interviewing significant public figures such as Dr. Anthony Fauci and former Vice President Mike Pence.

IHSPA president and convention coordinator Lauren Wagner said she is excited for Indiana journalists to experience an important behind-the-scenes glimpse into the life of an accomplished professional. Wagner, who also advises student media at Zionsville Community High School, said the insights Davis provides will be immediately applicable to the classrooms of those who participate in the event Jan. 28.

“I am so looking forward to hearing firsthand from Linsey about her experiences as a reporter, anchor and author,” Wagner said. “Linsey exemplifies what I strive to teach my own students, that a desire to better understand our world and make our world more understandable to others can benefit them in whatever path in life they choose.”

Teachers and students who are interested in attending the 2022 state high school journalism convention can find more information on the IHSPA website. Convention registration is just $10 until Jan. 7, and lunch is also available to those who wish to purchase a meal ticket for an additional $10. Any businesses or organizations wishing to participate in the event should complete the exhibitor/sponsor form and also submit it before Jan. 7.
