Indiana excellence celebrated at 2019 convention

FRANKLIN, Ind. — In celebration of the best in scholastic journalism, the Indiana High School Press Association announced the winners of the 2019 Harvey Award and Hoosier Star competitions during the state convention Friday, Oct. 18 at Franklin College. Full contest results may be found here:

Awards will be mailed to the schools of those winners who could not attend the 2019 convention.

The day was highlighted by a keynote address from Jon Seidel of the Chicago Sun-Times and sessions led by featured speaker Mitch Eden, adviser at Kirkwood High School in Missouri. IHSPA also recognized Plainfield High School’s Michelle Burress as the Ella Sengenberger Indiana Adviser of the Year, named former Indiana Department of Education employee Jordan Pridemore a Louis Ingelhart Friend of Scholastic Journalism and presented retired Herff Jones yearbook representative Cathy Wolfe with Lifetime Membership.
