The 11th annual IHSPA First Amendment Symposium is scheduled for Tuesday, March 14, in the south atrium of the Indiana Statehouse at 11a.m.
Students who attend will receive free #BeHeard t-shirts as part of the rally for our student journalist protections bill, House Bill 1130, that will receive a Senate Education Committee hearing the next day.
Guest speaker for the symposium will be Evans Branigan, principal at North Central High School. Branigan has been honored as an IHSPA Louis Ingelhart recipient and Journalism Education Association principal of the year. Student officers will also speak.
In addition, the 2017 Indiana High School Journalist of the Year finalists will be introduced and the this year’s winner announced.
